Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement provided at the time of booking confirmation or vehicle pickup. This agreement outlines specific terms, conditions, insurance information, fees, and your responsibilities related to the rental. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle with us requires:
- To hire a vehicle from Car Hire in Widnes, you must be at least 21 years old, with age restrictions differing by vehicle type. Drivers under 25 may incur extra charges. A full, valid driving licence suitable for the vehicle category is required, along with valid identification and proof of your current address. Ensure you have valid payment details and a security deposit ready, and comply with any additional requirements outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Details
- Reservations can be arranged via our website, over the phone, or at our Widnes office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The total payment, along with a security deposit, is generally required upon collecting your vehicle. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT as applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, with secure processing through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection and promptly report any pre-existing damage. A vehicle condition report will be created and signed to document its state. Upon return, the vehicle should be in the same condition as when it was collected, with allowances made for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and billed as necessary. Ensure the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level; refueling charges will apply for lower levels. If you anticipate a late return, please contact us as soon as possible, as additional charges may apply. You will be responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or charges incurred during your rental, along with an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- Basic third-party insurance is included with every vehicle rental. Comprehensive coverage details, along with excess amounts, can be found in your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to minimize your financial liability. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You remain accountable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess, unless additional coverage is purchased. Damage resulting from negligence or misuse remains your responsibility, irrespective of insurance coverage.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows could incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses of Rental Vehicle
- Use of the vehicle for any illegal activities is prohibited. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or similar risky pursuits. Transporting hazardous materials is not allowed. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is forbidden. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly prohibited. Vehicles must be used for their intended purposes, and passenger or weight limits must not be exceeded. Operating outside designated geographical areas without prior consent is also not permitted.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Widnes is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the rental amount paid in the past 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.
9. Local Legal Framework
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be resolved exclusively in the courts of England and Wales.
